The work displays the artist's trademark fusion of art deco style and surrealist framing, and is the second run of a set of posters for the firm.

A poster designed by Toulouse-Lautrec for cabaret star Aristide Bruant's residency at a Parisian nightclub realised $50,000.

Despite the public's warm reception, it appears the nightclub was unimpressed, with Lautrec writing Bruant at the time: "Bruant, my good friend. Enclosed the states as requested. As far as the poster ex condition is concerned, there are no good impressions left.

"The Eldorado management was very mean, haggling over the price and giving me less than the printing costs at Chaix."

In 2013, another poster by Lautrec featuring Bruant realised $60,000 at Swann Auction Galleries in New York.

We have a selection of posters available, including this example produced by the California League of Sexual Freedom.
