Abarth SE010 Quattro Fari could bring over $400,000 at Goodwood

The car is amongst ten rare examples from the Italian manufacturer set to cross the block

A collection of ten historic Italian racing cars will lead the line at Bonhams' Goodwood Revival sale next week.

Built by the manufacturer Abarth & C., which worked in conjunction with Fiat from the 1950s until the 1970s, the cars all originate from the famous Maranello Rosso Collection of Fabrizio Violati.

Abarth Bonhams Abarth was founded in Turin in 1949

"Having seen recent success at Quail Lodge with the sale of ten Ferarris from the famed Maranello Rosso museum - most notably the record breaking Ferrari 250 GTO - it's a pleasure to have the opportunity to bring this historically significant Italian marque - the Abarth collection - to auction," said James Knight, Bonhams group head of motoring.

"A name almost forgotten, Abarth's have a fascinating history, with an engineering and racing heritage that brought the brand great fame, and ultimately their most famous relationship with Fiat.

"The collection offered at Bonhams Goodwood Revival sale stretches across two decades of the brands existence, a truly remarkable acquisition for any collector."

A highlight of the collection is the 1969 Abarth 2000 Sport Spider SE010 'Quattro Fari' Sports-Racing Prototype, an icon of late-1960s design which ranks alongside the most stylish cars of the era.

One of just 50 examples built, the car is expected to sell for more than $400,000.

Further top lots from the museum-quality collection include a 1965 Abarth Simca 2000GT Corsa 'Campionissimo Europa Montagna' valued at more than $390,000, and a 1967 Abarth 1300OT Periscopica Coupe estimated at over $350,000.

The hotly-anticipated annual sale will also offer notable cars including a 1930 OM 665 SS MM Superba built for the historic Mille Miglia race, and a 1936 Lagonda LG45R Rapide Sports-Racing Two-Seater.
