An Anglo-Saxon coin made in Derby has sold for £3,000, smashing its pre auction estimate. The coin was struck some 1,000 years ago by a coin maker named Leofwine between 1042 and 1066. It was originally expected to fetch up to £1,200 at auction house Spink and Son.
