A classic $38k Bentley fit for the Navy

An automobile taken to sea by its former owner, a WW2 Captain, has sold in Derbyshire, UK

Earlier this week, we covered the results of a sale which included "the best-looking Ferrari of its generation" and the "ultimate Porsche 911," held in Derbyshire, UK.

The 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight (M471 Sport) was the undisputed winner between the former racetrack rivals,speeding to a final price of 220,000.

The 1971 Ferrari Dino 246GT, meanwhile, rolled to 66,000.

The 1938 Derby Bentley 4.25-litre Sports Saloon, sold for 37,950

But this pair ofrival classic automobiles weren't the only head-turners atH&H's auction.

Also for sale was a car oftenregarded asundervalued among collectors: an original 1938 Derby Bentley 4.25-litre Sports Saloon.

The historic auto - chassis number 'B133LE' - spent much of World War Two aboard a destroyer, courtesy of its owner who happened to be a Captain in the Royal Navy.

This majestic motor with a remarkable provenance cruised to 37,950 at H&H,wayabove its original estimate.
