A classic 1960s Lamborghini, yours for 355k

You don't need to go to Paris or Arizona this January to find a sought-after classic motor...

With huge car auctions like Retromobile in Paris and RM's Automobiles of Arizona sale lined up for January 2010, the new yearis set tostart with a bang for classic car collectors.

But, if you are unable to get involved in those high profile sales - or simply can't wait for them - a quick perusal of the classic car market canuncover many sought-after gems elsewhere.

Take, for instance, the vintage 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400.

This example was not only featured in Classic Car magazine, in July, 2004, but also turned heads with a specially-requested appearance at the Goodwood Revival meeting, in their l'concours d'elegance Earls Court Motorshow.

It then went on to feature in the October 2008 edition of Classic Cars magazine.

The Miura was built by Lamborghini between 1966-1972. Itwas immediately a trend-setter, making the mid-engined layout de rigueur among two-seater, high performance cars.

Around 275 P400s were produced between 1966 and 1969, powered by a version of the 3.9 L Lamborghini V12 engine used in the 400GT at the time, capable of 345 hp.

This example of the Miura has had only four owners during its busy lifetime, and has been extensively restored over the years.

Itsprovenance is backed-up with an extensive record of paperwork, and it underwent a mechanical appraisal in May 2008, according to the UK car dealer Oakfields.

Named after the Spanish ranch Miura (whose bulls are famed for their attack instinct), and with a current price of 345,950which is set to appreciate, this 1967 Lamborghini should attract savvy collectors like a red rag to a bull.
