55-year-old Macallan whisky set for $22,000 New York auction
New Yorkers looking for the taste of the Highlands will be intrigued by next week's Bonhams auction
A 55-year-old Macallan is the leading lot in an exciting array of whiskies set for auction at Bonhams' New York sale next week.
The 40.1% specimen comes in a 750ml Lalique decanter and is offered with a presentation case and book.
With a high end estimate of $22,000, this classic drop is expected to have investors licking their lips on April 14.
The ageing process is central to the taste of Macallan
Other top end whiskies at the sale include a 50-year-old Glenfiddich, estimated at $20,000, and a 50-year-old Glenfarclas, bottled in 2005 and expected to achieve $8,000.
Macallan was first distilled in 1824.
