Eighty of the world's finest classic cars will be showcased at the Sporting Classics of Monaco auction, timed to coincide with the 7th Grand Prix Historique de Monaco.

But the lot likely to turn the most heads will be the 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Cabriolet Pininfarina - regarded as more powerful and luxurious than the SWB California Spyder.

The elegant automobile is one of only six examples bodied by Pininfarina - and this model, chassis number 3309SA was the last-ever to be built. Recently, the car underwent an extensive and pricey restoration, and won an award at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The auction will take place in May 2010. In May 2008 British DJ Chris Evans set a record for acar sale at auction by buying a Ferrari250 GT California Spyder SWB for 7m, though this was later beatenin May 2009 the sale of another Ferrari - a Testa Rossa.

For car collectors around the world, the Pininfarina will be one of the auction highlights of the year. We'll look forward to bringing you more news on the event in the coming months.
