2006 DRC Romanee Conti achieves $31,000 for three bottles in Chicago

2006 DRC Romanee Conti was among the top performing wines at Hart Davis Hart

Three bottles of 2006 Domaine de Romanee Conti's (DRC) Romanee-Conti achieved $31,070 at Hart Davis Hart'sChicago auctionon October 25-26.

The lot performed well against an estimate of $22,000-32,000 - achieving a figure towards the higher end of its valuation and continuing DRC's dominance of the fine Burgundy market.

Three bottles of the 1990 vintage Romanee Conti realised $72,000 at Sotheby's Hong Kong earlier this year.

12 bottles of the 1991 DRC La Tache also featured in the auction, and made $28,680 against a $24,000-35,000 valuation.

By contrast, in May of this year, 12 bottles of the highly sought after 1990 DRC La Tache made $59,750 - a significant gap in value that is testament to the significance of the date of production.

Three magnums of 2000 Chateu Le Pin realised $26,290.

"There was incredible participation from enthusiastic collectors worldwide," commented Paul Hart, CEO of Hart Davis Hart: "We experienced the largest number of successful bidders in our history and were thrilled by the turnout."

The auction achieved total sales of $4.7m, with 2,064 lots crossing the block.

Paul Hart commented further: "We are thrilled about the continued momentum of our fall season. Market conditions are excellent for sellers with historically high prices and more buyers than ever are participating."
