A 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Berlinetta will carry an estimate of $3m-4m to Bonhams' Scottsdale Auction in Arizona on January 16.

Specifically designed for the American racing market, the 212 Export features coachwork by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan - which is responsible for the iconic shape of the Berlinetta.

The example offered in the sale was the seventh to roll off the assembly line, on January 26, 1951, and features a 2.6 litre V12 engine and a larger wheelbase than the road-designed Inter model.

It was sold to a wealthy tailor in Rome, and was raced extensively - before being shipped to the US in the early 1960s. In 2008 full restorations were carried out, with all the original components fully refurbished.

A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C is valued at $2.2m-2.6m.

Essentially a highly evolved version of the classic Berlinetta, the 275 GTB represents a landmark in Ferrari's development - combining elegant and functional design with exceptional engineering.

The coachwork was designed by Scaglietti-Design by Pininfarina, with who Ferrari enjoys an ongoing working relationship.

It features a slimmed down nose, which solved the issue of front-end lift, while the introduction of the open driveshaft put paid to the problem of driveline vibration.

An Alpha Romeo 6c 1750 will also feature in the sale.
