The 1933 centenary Falkland Island blocks are valued at $44,500 ahead of the July 9-11 auction

A set of three 1933 centenary Falkland Island blocks of four (from halfpence to 1) are to lead a London sale at Spink on July 9-11 with a 23,000-26,000 ($39,444-44,588) estimate.

Spink Falkland 1933 The Falklands 1933 centenary issue is hugely popular among collectors

The lots will lead "The Philatelic Collector's Series Sale featuring the Award-winning Collection of Province of Otago Postal History formed by Greg Francis, and the Cliff Wheatley Rhodesias".

The pictorial issue features renderings of local scenes and wildlife and proved hugely popular among collectors.

An 1884 watermark crown 1 brown-lilac is valued at 18,000-22,000 ($30,869-37,729).

There are few surviving examples of the brown-lilacin mint condition as the majority were printed using fugitive inks, which wash away under water.

This method was used to prevent the public from removing and reusing them.

The example offeredhas been very lightly hinged and is in practically mint condition.

In April this year an IR OFFICIAL 1 brown-lilac made 45,000 ($75,217) at Spink's sale of the Dauer collection in London.

An error block of 15 1989 Lord Mayor's Show 20p stamps will provide another highlight with a valuation of 15,000-20,000 ($25,724-34,299).

The se-tenant strips are imperforate up to the fourth stamp and are offered mint and unmounted.

We have a fascinating range of stamps available, check them out here.
