1929 Duesenberg Model J will see $900,000 in Michigan

A 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton will star at the Concours d'Elegance of America

A 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton will be the standout lot of RM Auctions' saleat the Concours d'Elegance of America.

Duesenberg Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton Jim Hoe is one of the legendary names in the illustrious history of Duesenberg

Crossing the block on July 27 at the Inn at St John's, Plymouth, Michigan, the Duesenberg will sell with a $725,000-900,000 estimate.

Modified for competition by master mechanic Jim Hoe and having recently been restored, the Dual-Cowl Phaeton hopes to beat the $957,000 seen by a 1930 Duesenberg Model SJ Covertible Victoria by Rollston at the 2012 St John's event.

The car is one of a roster of more than 25 classic cars from Richard and Linda Kughn, owners of an esteemed Michigan-based collection that spans more than 60 years of automotive production.

The collection features the finest American marques, including a 1930 Cadillac V-16 All-Weather Phaeton that was formerly owned by noted V-16 collector Richard Gold, and is valued at $150,000-200,000.

Also starring from the collection is a 1922 Duesenberg Model A Doctor's Coupe with unique Fleetwood coachwork and full ownership from new, which is expected to bring $175,000-225,000.

Another pair of Duesenberg Model Js will provide the highlight of Auctions America's sale at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival, which is held at the original Illinois manufacturing facility from August 29 to September 1.
