Sunbeam 3.0 Litre Super Sports Sunbeam is a prestigious name among collectors, known for its quality and engineering excellence

The car, valued for its age and remarkable condition, saw a final bid of 158,300 ($247,315). As one of only 302 made between 1925 and 1930, and representing the finest in engineering from the Vintage era, its new owner will be placed among the foremost collectors of the British marque.

Sunbeam is noted for producing cars prior to and following the first world war thatwon numerous races at Brooklands, and set a number of speed records. The 3.0-Litre Super Sports was one of the fastest production cars of its day, producing 90-120bhp.

This example was exported new to Argentina and spent 32 yearsof its life in storage, before being steadily restored by subsequent owners to bring it to the fantastic condition it is in today.

Alfa Romeo 1900c The 1900c Sprint Coupe offers sports performance in a comfortable, family-sized car

Bringing the second highest bids of the sale was a 1953 Alfa Romeo 1900c 1st Series Sprint Coupe, which made 152,700 ($238,566). The first all-new offering of Alfa Romeo's post-war period, this example of the 1900c is a rare original right-hand drive, although a mismatched engine replacement will have marginally decreased its appeal to collectors.

The first day of RM Auctions' London sale, which runs from September 8-9, saw a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing achieve $1.1m to top the "ultimate" collection of the marque.
