1920s Coca-Cola bottle lamp estimated at $9,000 in advertising sale

A scarce bottle lamp from the 1920s will lead 200 Coca-Cola lots on August 10-11

A rare 1920s Coca-Cola bottle lamp is set to lead 200 items of advertising memorabilia from the brand in an August 10-11 auction.

Coca-Cola bottle lamp auction

Selling in Denver, Pennsylvania, the lamp is a scarce example of the once-popular promotional gift and is said to be in good working order. It features the original worn cap and original gold metal embossed base. In excellent condition for its age, the lamp is expected to make between $6,000 and $9,000. Paul Fraser Collectibles believes this to be a reasonable estimate; another example in considerablyworse condition sold for $3,000 in March 2012. Also featuring is a 1930s Brunhoff Coca-Cola "please pay cashier" glass sign, which comes complete with the original frame, back tag and a good portion of the back paper liner. In "very good plus" to excellent condition, it is expected to bring $5,000-7,500. The popular Coca-Cola policeman sign will also be making an appearance, boasting its original cast iron base. A fantastic unused example, the sign has not been exposed to weather conditionsunlike others seen at auction and therefore warrants an estimate of $4,000-6,000. One of the earliest items of Coca-Cola memorabilia on offer will be a fantastic 1902 calendar featuring a Norman Rockwell-style girl as January's illustration. Framed under glass, it will auction for $3,000-5,000. The Antiques Roadshow has recently joined forces with the Coca-Cola brand in the search for three missing Norman Rockwell paintings, which could be worth up to $500,000 each. Norman Rockwell's iconic designs serve as some of the most valuable items from the Coca-Cola brand and are always popular with collectors.Check back with Paul Fraser Collectibles regularly to see the results from this exciting sale.
