$175,000 ring leads Dallas auction

A diamond, platinum ring, selling for charity, is leading a sale this Monday

This Monday, Heritage Auctions is holding a sale of fine jewellery. The 441 lot sale is dominated by diamond rings, with the six most valuable lots as judged by the auctioneer all being diamond rings of one variety or another. Let's look at three of them:

First up is a platinum and gold square cut ring from David Alan features a Fancy Natural Grayish Yellowish Green radiant-cut diamond measuring weighing 5.55 carats, enhanced by full-cut pink diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.20 carats, accented by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 1.25 carats.

The fascinating piece, sized 6-1/4 (sizeable) is estimated at $60,000-$80,000.

Second, with a guide price of $100,000-125,000 is a platinum diamond ring from Tiffany. The Lucida-cut diamond has been described as 'magnificent' by the auctioneer, perhaps thanks in part to its VVS clarity. The beautiful piece is sized 7-1/2 (sizeable).

Currently slated to be top lot is a platinum ring set with a fantastic 11.99ct pear-shaped diamond. This main diamond is flanked by two baguette-cut diamonds. Sized 8 (sizeable) it is being sold to benefit various charities on behalf of Dorothy & Sidney Factor.
