14th century medieval sword could make $50,000 at Bonhams

The 14th century medieval sword is thought to have been made in Italy

A rare medieval sword dating to the late 13th or early 14th century could make 20,000-30,000 ($33,210-49,815) at Bonhams London on April 30.

The lot is thought to have been made in Italy and is likely to have been used by a knight. It takes the Oakshott (a system of cataloguing the shape of medieval swords) Type XIII form, characterised by a spatula-shaped blade and a long handle, which were developed during the crusades.
