$1.9m Cobra burns rubber at Amelia Island

This car incorporates everything Shelby learned from three years of intense racetrack competition

For buyers that missed out on the two Shelby Cobra Roadsters sold by Barrett-Jackson in Arizona, last month, a very rare Cobra CSX 2557 will star at RM's highlyanticipated Amelia Island sale.

The CSX 2557 is from the final series of six Shelby team factory cars - one of the "cutback door" 289 roadsters built for the 1964-65 US Road Racing Championship.

 The Cobra CSX 2557, estimated at $1.5m-1.9m

Brutally fast and highly evolved, they incorporated everything thatShelby had learned in three years of intense competition.

One of two USRRC Cobras built with dual side pipes on each side, the CSX 2557 was entered into the season-ending FIA race at Bridgehampton in 1964.

 The Cobra will be sold in meticulously maintained condition

Restored to its original Shelby team appearance, it is one of the most original and unmodified of all the famed Shelby Cobra 289 race cars, andis presentedin exceptional condition.

It will roll onto the auction block with an estimate of $1.5m-1.9m.
