$1.7m vintage Duesenberg stars at Amelia Island

This 1930s Model J was the winning lot at RM's highly-anticipated classic cars auction

RM Auction's Automobiles of Amelia Island sale lived up to high expectations over the weekend,featuring a plethora of classic and historic automobiles.

Top lot went to none other than the 1930 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Sport Berline, a truly magnificent antique motor from John O'Quinn's collection of superb automobiles.

The1930 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Sport Berline($1,705,000)

Boasting a singularly innovative design -including never-before-seen wrapping doors and a revolutionary all-aluminum construction -the Model J carried an estimate of $1.2m-$1.5m.

Paraded before the wealthiest and most dedicated carcollectors and enthusiastsin the world, it rolled off the auction block at a final hammer price of $1,705,000.

The 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Berlinetta ($1,650,000)

The second-highest lot was one of two exceptional Fly Yellow-sprayed Ferraris featured in the sale. Of the pair, the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Berlinetta commanded a final value of $1,650,000.
