Lot 659: Hyderabad Regiment. A pair of WWI regimental silver plated goblets, each engraved with the crest of 19th Hyderabad Regiment, the foot with inscription 'The Officers 3rd Battalion XIX Hyderabad Regiment From Lieut. B.B. Haynes 23-5-24', the other inscribed 'The Officer's 1/97th Infantry From 2nd Lieut. H.S. Larkin 5-12-17', 20cm high. Lieutenant H.S. Larkin was present at the Amritsar Massacre in 1919 and was commanding. 50 soldiers at Ahmedabad when a crowd attacked them wielding swords. Larkin ordered three of his men to fire, but this had little effect. Another attack was launched shortly after and Larkin ordered all of his men to fire but this could not prevent the attackers, Larkin drew his revolver and pointed it at a man and fired, his weapon jammed and his opponent was able to assault him, slicing his arm with the sword.
