Lot 525: Ney Michel: (1769-1815) Marshal Of France. L.S., Ney, Two Pages, Large 4To, Memmingen, 15Th June 1806, To His Majesty, In French. Ney States That Captain Batiste Of The 59Th Has Been Recommended For The Vacant Post Of Battalion Chief In The 50Th Regiment By The Colonel And He Continues To Ask His Majesty To Look Favourably On The Promotion As The Offer 'Has The Most Rightful Claim To This Post By Virtue Of His Length Of Service, His Education And His Moral Rectitude'. Ney Further States That Baptiste 'Has Served On My Personal General Staff During This Campaign During Which I Have Been Able To Appreciate His Talents And His Assiduity' And The Officer Is 'Imbued With Love And Devotion For The Sacred Person Of Your Majesty'.
