Lot 488: Two letters: an LS by signer of the United States Constitution and Secretary of War James McHenry, one page, March 1, 1798, in part: "There being more Howitzers in the Navy Yard at Boston, than is probable, will be wanted for the Constitution, you will be pleased to enquire of Capt'n Nicholson the number he may wish to have for his Ship"; and a manuscript DS by the Continental Army commander Arthur St. Clair, one page, August 17, 1798, being a promissory note in the amount of $240. In overall very good to fine condition, with heavy foxing, dampstaining, and many cancellation cuts to the St. Clair document.
