Lot 377: Confederate Buttons
Lot 377: Collection of four die-struck, domed buttons with "Superior Quality" back markings and intact wire loops. Cataloged as no. CS81B in Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons by A. H. Albert. Three of the buttons are in excellent, unissued condition while the fourth has a dark ochre tarnish across the front. The backs of all four buttons have a bright golden patina with crisp stampings. These were part of a consignment that was diverted to Bermuda due to the US Navy blockade of the Confederacy and remained there until the 1960s.
