A telegram that reveals Prime Minister Winston Churchill's fears that France was about to declare war on Britain in 1940 has sold at International Autograph Auctions in London. The message, dated July 4, 1940, was sent the day after Britain had attacked the French fleet in Algeria. It sold for £1,600 at the November 3rd auction - nearly 10 times its pre-sale estimate.

I was completely unaware that there were any conflicts between France and Great Britain during WWII. An illuminating document.
