Butch Cassidy mugshot to auction for $30,000?
A musghsot of the outlaw Butch Cassidy will feature in the Caren Archive sale
The photograph, taken in 1894 and later issued by the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, is expected to auction for $20,000-30,000.
Cassidy was a notorious bank and train robber who fled to South America in 1901. It is thought he was killed in an ambush in Bolivia in 1908, although this is a matter of contention among historians.
The story of Cassidy’s life, including his pursuit by the Pinkertons, was immortalised in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman.
