1940 Royal Navy Bicorn and Epaulettes

While the big news is still surrounding the sale of Napoleon's Bicorn selling for £1.5 million, this one, worn more recently by Lieutenant Edward Beckwith Ashmore circa 1940, is also up for auction for the far more affordable £250-300. The dress uniform components are presented in a Japanned case, accompanied with newspaper clippings pertaining to the garments' original owner being awarded the Distinguished Service Order in 1941. Even though the Second World War was well underway the Royal Navy could always find time for a little pomp and circumstance!
