Lot 4002: NWA 11303 Lunar Meteorite End Cut
18th October 2018
Fantastic Northwest Africa (NWA) 11303 lunar meteorite end cut, comprised of lunar feldspathic breccia. The end cut weighs 14.4 grams and measures approximately 36 mm x 33 mm x 10 mm. This is an actual fragment of the moon, identified as a feldspathic regolith breccia by Drs. Irving and Kuehner at the University of Washington. Among the rarest materials on Earth, this lunar meteorite was expertly prepared in the lab, using a special saw to show off its marvelous fragmented (brecciated) interior; only one side of this wonderful specimen was cut, leaving the rough exterior intact on one side. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Geoff Notkin of Aerolite Meteorites Inc. and the TV show Meteorite Men, as well as a specimen identification card.
