Rare Brightlingsea WW1 war medal
A rare war medal that was won by Clara Godling of Brightlingsea during WW1 is headed to Brightlingsea Museum after selling for £300 to a group of local residents.
The victory medal was awarded to Godling for her services to the Queen Mary’s Army Auxiliary Corps. Not much else is known about Godling except that she was sadly killed just days before the war ended-though teh museum are keen to find out more.
At least eight people and groups donated money to buy the medal in order to ensure it remained in Brightlingsea.
