Mitchell, Gloucestershire Regiment later Veterinary Corps and his son, Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, two clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State (1096 Pte J. Mitchell Glouc Rgt), King's South Africa, two clasps (1096 Pte. J. Mitchell. Glouc: Regt), 1914-15 Star (SE.11228 Pte. J. Mitchell, A.V.C.), British War and Victory Medals (SE.11228 Pte. J. Mitchell. A.V.C.), very fine and better, with a WWII Defence and War Medal attributed to G. Mitchell, extremely fine plus silver War Badge, presented in a glazed frame, with copied research. 11228 Private Joseph Mitchell, born in Painswick, Stroud 1864, enlisted in the 4th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment at Bristol in 1885, served during the Boer War from 1900-02, transferred to the Army Veterinary Corps and served on the Western Front from 4.12.1915, discharged 20.10.1917.
