It's funny what a bit of contrast twiddling can do to a picture; another of his pictures is in the same auction over at Auctionata, with a more 'usual' finish, but with the contrast like this, the character at the front of the frame (in the other picture an old woman) takes on a far more ghoulish look.
This 1957 picture by Mario Giacomelli is valued at €3,600 by Auctionata, and it's been signed by the artist, along with the title "Scanno".
