Lot 673: Fraser Frankie: (1923-2014) English Gang Member & Criminal, Known As €™Mad’ Frankie Fraser. A.L.S., Frank Xxx, Four Pages, 8Vo, Stafford Prison, 11Th May 1958, To Eve, Jim And Shirley, On Prison Stationery. Fraser Evidently Writes Following A Prison Visit And Comments €˜It’S A Pity Doreen And Baby Couldn’T In Any Event Make It Owing To The Baby’S Cold Also Doreen Herself Couldn’T Have Come In Any Case As She Is Not Well Either But As There Was No Transport Available And You Had To Travel By Rail It Would Have Been To (Sic) Expensive….It Was Good News Though To Know Jimmy As (Sic) Obtained His License Again Also A Nice Motor So That From Now On You Will Be Able To Travel By Car…€™ And Continues €˜By The Way Up To Time Of Writing This I Have Not Heard In Answer To The Letter I Sent The Briefs Giving The Reply’S To What They Asked For, And As I Told You To All The Questions Bar The One Which Asked On What Date Was I Actually Convicted I Could Not Help Them In Any Way At All As I Did Not Know The Answers To The Questions To Which They Thought I May Have Known, As I Explained To Them…That At The Time Of All Those Events I Was At Bristol And Did Not Return To London Prison Untill (Sic) After The Case Was All Finished With And Only Managed To Get Back Because My Solicitors Had Made An Application To The Home Office For Me To Be Returned To A London One As I Was Convicted In A London Court And As I Was An Appellant I Should Never Have Been Moved As It Was Against The Interests Of My Appeal Owing To The Extra Expense Involved In Travelling For Interviews In Connection With My Appeal….I Explained All This To Them In My Letter Saying I Was Sorry That I Could Not Help As I Did Not Know The Answer To Any Of The Questions They Asked….Also That They Had The Wrong Charge, And Pointed Out There (Sic) Mistake By Stating Not Only The Actual Date I Was Convicted But Also The Offence Which I Was Convicted Of….Wounding With Intent It Just Shows How Much The Solicitors Actually Knew They Did Not Even Know The Correct Offence. I Did Not Trouble To Let Them Know I Am Innocent As There Is Unfortunately Nothing That Can Be Done About It….I Have Asked For A Letter To Write To Them But Have Been Refused It…€™ And Further Explaining The Circumstances Upon Which His Additional Letter Had Been Refused, And Then Allowed, Before Being Refused Again.
