A number of items that once belonged to a police officer involved in the 1888 Jack the Ripper murder case have sold at auction for five times their original estimate. The auction included handcuffs, a truncheon, a whistle and a notebook which police officer PC Edward Watkins was carrying on the night he discovered one of the five murder victims in London. The items were sold to a private collector for £17,700 at JP Humbert Auctioneers in Northamptonshire.
