Aladdin Wild Wild West lunchbox

The Aladdin Wild Wild West lunchbox is a vintage lunchbox based on the 1960s U.S television show ‘The Wild Wild West’.

Background

The Wild Wild West was a popular U.S television series which ran for four seasons from 1965 until 1969. It followed the adventures of James T. West and Artemus Gordon, two U.S Secret Service agents in the Old West battling against villains such as Dr. Miguelito Quixote Loveless.

The show featured a number of ahead-of-their-time gadgets, and was written in a comedy-adventure style that combined elements of James Bond with the classic Western. It was later remade in the 1990s as a feature film starring Will Smith and Kevin Kline.

The box features a black rim and handle, with colourful graphics on the front, back and sides. The front of the box features an image of West and Gordon on horseback, attempting to board a moving train whilst returning the gunfire of a criminal. The reverse shows West swinging over a fiery chasm and kicking a pistol from the hand of a villain.

The sides of the box feature images of the pair’s train (The Wanderer), a riverboat and a horse-drawn coach. The box also came with a flask, which featured stylish black-and-white graphics mirroring the title sequence of the show itself. It was produced by Aladdin in 1969, towards the end of the show’s run.

How much is an Aladdin Wild Wild West lunchbox worth?

The box is a highly sought after and collectible lunchbox, due to its rarity and excellent graphics. The highest-quality examples have been known to sell on auction sites such as eBay for up to $200, and good condition boxes with their flasks intact regularly sell for $50 - $75.
