Aladdin Super Friends lunchbox
The Aladdin Super Friends lunchbox is a vintage collectible lunchbox
‘Super Friends’ was a U.S animated cartoon series based on the DC Comics series The Justice league of America. It featured many of the main characters from the DC Universe including Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, along with the new characters Wendy, Marvin and Wonderdog created specifically for the show.
The series initially featured none of the DC supervillains, and concentrated on stories with toned-down violence and themes such as environmentalism suitable for a younger audience. The first season ran from 1973 until 1974, and was later repeated in 1976-77. The popularity of the repeats led to a new series, which ran in various incarnations until 1986.
This included the 1985 – 85 season being renamed ‘Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show’ in an attempt to help market the newly-released range of ‘Super Powers’ action figures produced by Kenner.
The initial release of Super friends was also accompanied by items of merchandise, including a lunchbox produced by Aladdin Industries in 1976. Aladdin would also go on to produce the Super Powers lunchbox in 1983.
