Aladdin Battlestar Galactica lunchbox

The Aladdin Battlestar Galactica lunchbox is a vintage lunchbox based on the 1970s U.S science fiction series Battlestar Galactica.

Battlestar Galactica is a science fiction franchise created in the late 1970s by Glen A. Larson. The show told the story of the last remaining group of humans fleeing across the galaxy after their colonies are destroyed by a race of robots known as Cylons. The show originally ran for a single season, from 1978 until 1979, but was reimagined in 2004 as a modern mini-series which became a four-season drama with a far darker tone than the original.

The show’s initial run produced a wide variety of merchandise, which quickly disappeared when the program was suddenly cancelled. This included a range of toys and action figures from Mattel, and a lunchbox made by Aladdin Industries in 1979.

The box has yellow borders, with a matching yellow handle and an embossed front cover. The front of the box features an image of the Cylons attacking a planet, whilst the Galactica and a number of Viper fighters fly overhead.

The back of the box features more Cylons, along with the human character Boxey and his pet robot dog Muffit II. The top of the box shows Viper fighters enganged in battle with Cylon warships, whilst the bottom depicts a scene with the characters Starbuck, Boomer, Athena and Serena. The sides show Commander Adama and a number of the show’s alien characters.

The matching thermos flask featured the show’s title logo along with an image of Boxey, Muffit II and several Viper fighters.
