An extreamly rare pink diamond and an exceptional Burmese ruby will be heading to Sothebys next month where they could fetch as much as $18 Million each.

The 'historically important' diamond is thought to have once belonged to Princess Mathilde, niece of French Emperor Napoleon I and weighs an impressive 8.72 carats. 25.59-carats and has been descibed as "a unique treasure of nature".

Both the pieces will be sold as part of Sothebys Magnificent Jewels and Nobel Jewels auction in Geneva on May 12.
