Gold and diamond Jewelry, watches and other items from the collection of American fraudster Bernie Madoff has gone up for auction in a bid to pay back the some $17 million he stole from his investors.

The collection includes a 24 Karat gold paper clip, a diamond tennis bracelet, an antique Russian 14k gold necklace and Patek Phillipe watches.

The items belonged to Madoff and his estranged wife Ruth and have so far attracted over $90,000 worth of bids. All proceeds from the sale will be put towards a restitution fund which has so far  raised $11 billion of the money lost in the Ponzi scheme which is considered the largest financial fraud in U.S. history.
