Jewelry once owned by Bernie Madoff up for auction
Gold and diamond Jewelry, watches and other items from the collection of American fraudster Bernie Madoff has gone up for auction in a bid to pay back the some $17 million he stole from his investors.
The collection includes a 24 Karat gold paper clip, a diamond tennis bracelet, an antique Russian 14k gold necklace and Patek Phillipe watches.
The items belonged to Madoff and his estranged wife Ruth and have so far attracted over $90,000 worth of bids. All proceeds from the sale will be put towards a restitution fund which has so far raised $11 billion of the money lost in the Ponzi scheme which is considered the largest financial fraud in U.S. history.
