Fine fancy pink diamond in Somerset auction
A fine fancy pink diamond could fetch as much as £12,000 at auction in Somerset this month.
The pear shaped colored diamond weighs just over 1 carat and is of SI1 clarity. Pink is generally the most desirable shade in a colored diamond and the stone could well achieve more than its high estimate of £12,000.
Further highlights of the auction include a Victorian diamond and pearl tiara which has an interesting noble provenance. The tiara was originally owned by Lady Mary Stanhope and passed by decent to the The Hon. Lady Russell, who married Admiral The Hon. Sir Guy Russell, G.B.E., K.C.B., D.S.O. in 1939-the tiara now being the property of their daughter. It is thought to be worth between £5,000-7,000.
The diamond and tiara will be up for auction with Lawrences on the 16th of July.
