Blue Moon diamond to break world record?
The Blue Moon diamond could break the record for any diamond at auction.
It’s valued at $35m-55m ahead of a major sale of jewellery at Sotheby’s New York on November 11.
The stone was discovered in South Africa last year and, at 12.03 carats, is one of the largest blue diamonds on the market and is internally flawless.
The current record for a diamond at auction stands at $46m, set for the Graff Pink in 2010.
David Bennett, head of jewellery at Sotheby’s, comments: "The Blue Moon diamond is a simply sensational stone of perfect colour and purity.”
