Hermès handbag set for six-figure sale at Heritage Auctions
A rare and sought-after Hermès handbag could fetch a six-figure sum when it hits the auction block in Dallas next month.
The striking red Hermès Extraordinary Collection diamond, shiny braise porosus crocodile Sellier Kelly bag is the star attraction amongst a line of luxury bags and accessories at Heritage Auctions.
Dating from 2008, the bag features an 18-karat white gold lock encrusted with 40 VVS F white round brilliant diamonds, and is expected to sell for in excess of $100,000.
"Heritage has a strong track record of offering the best of the best when it comes to Hermès," said Diane D'Amato, Director of Luxury Accessories in New York. "The coveted Red Kelly Bag — and the entire auction — upholds that reputation."
As always, Hermès bags of every shape, size and color dominate the auction's top lots.
Highlights will include a highly sought-after Hermes 32cm matte white Himalayan Nilo Crocodile Retourne Kelly Bag with palladium hardware, estimated at $90,000-$120,000; a 35cm Matte Nuage Alligator Birkin bag valued at $80,000-$100,000; a 40cm Matte Bougainvillea Porosus Crocodile Birkin bag valued at $40,000-$50,000; and a limited edition 35cm Barenia leather & Osier wicker picnic Kelly bag estimated at $30,000-$40,000.
Aside from Hermès bags, the sale will include pieces by designer labels such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Tom Ford.
Notable lots include a Chanel limited edition matte white Alligator Diamond Forever flap bag with 18k white gold hardware, estimated at $80,000-$100,000; a Chanel 18K white gold, diamond & cultured pearl lady's watch estimated at $35,000-$50,000; Chanel Shiny Navy Alligator jumbo single flap bag priced at $16,000-$20,000; and even a Chanel limited edition black carbon fiber surfboard valued at $6,000-$8,000.
