Fenton Art Glass Company is a glass manufacturing company based in Williamstown, West Virginia.
It is the largest manufacturer of handmade coloured glass in the US and one of the world’s leading glass manufacturers.
The company’s glass is known for its beautiful patterns and colours.
Fenton Art Glass Company was founded in 1905 by Frank and John Fenton in Martins Ferry, Ohio. The company initially painted decorations on glassware made by local manufacturers.
The brothers opened Fenton Art Glass factory in Williamstown, West Virginia in 1907 and began producing their own glass. One of the key types of glass produced during this period was carnival glass, which is highly collectible.
Today, eight Fenton family members work at the company, alongside 100 employees in Williamstown, West Virginia.
The company has a factory outlet where visitors can take a guided tour of the premises and watch glass making in action. It is also possible to buy the glass works produced here.
The company hosts regular workshops. These allow members of the public to create their own pieces of glass with the assistance of expert tuition.
The Fenton Museum
The museum and theatre documents the history of glass making in the Upper Ohio Valley from 1880 to the present.
The museum houses more than 2,000 glass works of note.
