Vintage Verner Panton Chairs
Vintage Verner Panton Chairs are original pieces of furniture created by the Danish designer Verner Panton.
History & Description
Verner Panton was a Danish furniture and interior designer.
Considered to be one of the most influential twentieth century furniture designers to come out of Denmark, Verner Panton helped to distinguish the term Danish Modern furniture. Throughout his career, Panton produced futuristic and innovative designs that utilised new materials such as plastic in exotic and vibrant colours.
Panton furniture was the embodiment of the styles and designs that emerged from Scandinavia during the 1950s and 1960s and his work has remained as popular today as they were back then.
Towards the end of the 1950s Panton’s designs became increasingly unconventional and he produced chairs that had no distinguishable back supports or legs. His most famous and mass-produced design was the “Stacking” chair – more commonly referred to as the "S” chair - which was designed in 1960 and was the very first single-form injection-moulded plastic chair.

During his career Panton produced a variety of different styles of chairs, such as the “Cone”, “Peacock” and “Panton” chairs. However, undoubtedly his most prized items are his “S” chairs.
