Information about the American furniture manufacturer founded in the 19th century

The Paine Furniture Company was an American furniture manufacturer established in the 19th century.

Brief history and description

The Paine Furniture Company was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1835 by Leonard Shearer. Boston in 1835 was a small city, but furniture production was a growing industry which Shearer recognized.

Despite having operated for a great many years, it was 1872 when he opened an enormous Paine Furniture Company shopping centre, and continued to expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities until his retirement.

By 1914, Paine Furniture Company was operating from a ten-story showroom and factory. The company is still owned and run by the Shearer family, though the name has since changed to Right Price Furniture.

Antique Paine Furniture Company pieces can reach large sums of money at auction.
