Lot 578: Important Pennsylvania painted settee, ca. 1840, attributed to Mifflintown Chair Works, Juniata County, the crest with a dramatic landscape decoration, with rolling hills and trees and a series of ten building spires, with bannerette weathervanes, 35 1/2'' h., 78'' w. Illustrated in Zilla Lea The Ornamented Chair, fig. 5. A settee from the same shop was sold at Pook & Pook Inc., The Pioneer Collection of Dr. Shelley, April 20, 2007, lot 301. Overall good with minor wear. Losses to two splats.
