Lot 265: Philadelphia Chippendale mahogany dining chair, ca. 1770, the crest with a central carved floral spray with volutes, above a pierced splat and slip seat, with a shell carved frame, supported by carved cabriole legs terminating in ball and claw feet. Property sold with the approval of the trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit acquisition funds. Original slip seat. Two corner blocks replaced. Repaired break to crest at stile. Repaired break to one volute on splat. Sliver chunk missing from one talon.
