Duncan Phyfe dresser
A Duncan Phyfe dresser is a dressing table manufactured by the 19th century American furniture maker Duncan Phyfe. The term 'Duncan Phyfe' is also used to describe a certain style of furniture rather than the specific manufacturer.
This style style is characterized by carved or reeded legs and neoclassic motifs, along with graceful and refined lines and delicate proportions. However, Phyfe himself did not create a unique style and his furniture is seen by experts as a continuation or adaptation of the Chippendale, Hepplewhite or Sheraton styles of the 19th century.
