Copper Grasshopper Weathervane auction

2015-07-06 15:59:39

While a gigantic grasshopper might not be the most immediately obvious choice for a weathervane, this one created by L.W. Chushing & Sons in the late 19th century is exactly that. Estimated to be worth an incredible $75-100,000 by the auctioneers James D Julia, the grasshopper remained in usage until 1995 when a re-roofing took place on its barn. The auction is on the 20th of August, if you happen to be in the market for a giant grasshopper.
