The double barrel pistol and it's songbird, restored by Parmigiani Fleurier
Watchmakers Parmigiani Fleurier spent twelve months restoring this exquisite pistol automaton which, when fired, reveals a miniature singing hummingbird.
The pistol hails from the Sandoz Family Collection and is believed to have been created circa 1815 by Frères Rochat.
When it arrived in the hands of Parmigiani Fleurier it was apparent that time had not been kind to the automaton and it was in severe need of restoration. The team has to start from scratch. restoring every single piece of the object from the gear wheels to the bird’s enamel and feathers.
