George And Martha Washington Figurines are collectible figurines depicting the celebrated former U.S president and his wife.

Brief history and description

George Washington was born on February 22nd, 1732 and died on December 14th, 1799, and served as the President of the United States from 1789 to 1797.

Martha Dandridge Custis Washington was born on June 2nd, 1731 and died on May 22nd, 1802, and married George Washington on January 6th, 1759.

Both George and Martha Washington are considered to be two of the most notable and recognizable figures in American history, especially due to the fact that George Washington was the first President of the United States, making Martha the first First Lady of the United States; (although she was not given this title until after her death).

Some of the many companies that produced popular and collectible George and Martha Washington figurines include Royal Doulton (circa 1977), Overbeck, Williamsburg, Von Schierholz, Goebel and Porcelain Lace.

Guide for collectors

George Washington figurines are considered to be more valuable than Martha Washington figurines, however, Martha and George Washington figurines which are sold as a pair are considered to be both rare and valuable.

Figurines which were produced by the German company Williamsburg are considered to be the most valuable due to the fact that the company's figurines were typically hand-painted and made out of cast resin.

Only 750 Royal Doulton figurines depicting George Washington at Prayer are known to exist.

Given the delicacy of George and Martha Washington figurines, restoration is not generally recommended.

The Presidential Memorabilia website has a collection of various George and Martha Washington-related memorabilia items that are for sale, which range from antique figurines to post cards, candles, plates and much more.
