Sindy is back! But not as you remember her
Remember Sindy? Well she's just about to make a comeback though she's looking a little different these days.
Children of the 60's and 70's will fondly remember Sindy as the perfect down to earth English alternative to America's Barbie. She was presented as the ultimate English Rose. She was wholesome, stylish and came with a cooker that made real sizzling bacon sounds. Sadly, all this was not enough for her to keep up with her glamorous, car driving, outer space visiting American counterpart and sales began to decline.
In order to keep up, toy makers Pedigree changed the design of Sindy to look alot more like Barbie. Her trademark side glancing eyes, realistic body proportions and modern fashions were replaced with long blonde hair, glitter and pink-lots of pink.
But now the toy makers are going back to basics with the new doll which has been revamped by Tesco.
The unrecogniseable Sindy now stands at 18 feet tall and looks more like an American Girl Doll than a Barbie.
Only time will tell if this new incarnation will be a hit with children...or collectors!
