The Michael Jackson 1984 Thriller Doll is a vintage doll based on the recording artist Michael Jackson.
In 1984 the American toy company LJN Toys produced a series of four Michael Jackson 12” poseable dolls under the name of ‘Superstar of the 80s’. Each doll wears an outfit taken from one of Jackson’s most famous performances or music videos: Thriller, Beat It, the 1984 Grammy Awards and the 1984 American Music Awards.
In addition, a number of separate outfits were available to purchase – Motown, Billie Jean and Human Nature.
Today the Thriller doll is one of the most popular with collectors, and prices for the entire range of 1984 dolls has risen in recent years.
The 1984 LJN Toys Michael Jackson Thriller doll
The Thriller doll measures 12” tall, and comes dressed in the outfit worn by Jackson in the music video for his 1984 single Thriller – a red jacket with clack trim and a pair of red trousers. The doll also wears a glittering ‘magic’ glove on its left hand, a pair of black sunglasses, carries a small plastic microphone and was supplied with a plastic posing stand.
The Thriller outfit was also available to buy separately.

The dolls from the ‘Superstar of the 80s’ range are popular with collectors, with the best prices paid for those in NIB (New In Box) or mint condition.
