Antique and vintage doll clothes trunks
Antique and vintage doll clothes trunks are generally small drawers designed to house and carry dolls’ clothes.
Some trunks are also able to accommodate a doll itself.
The most collectible varieties of these small trunks were produced in the Victorian era.
Vintage or antique?
Doll clothes trunks produced more than 100 years ago are classed as “antique” according to the 1930 Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act’s definition.
“Vintage” refers to pieces manufactured within the last 100 years and can include items made as recently as the 1980s.
Notable sales of antique and vintage doll clothes trunks
At auction, many trunks are sold in lots with dolls, making the value of the actual trunks difficult to gauge. Good condition, Victorian pieces are generally the most valuable items.
